Meet Lily and Jace! We had a blast with this Lake Freeman engagement session. Lily and Jace met through Jace’s sister, Gwen. Lily and Gwen have been friends for many years through cheerleading and school – They are longtime childhood best friends. (She’s the maid of honor, if you didn’t see that coming.) Jace was always in the picture as the ‘best friend’s brother’, but it wasn’t until the summer of 2016 where these two hit it off and thought “why didn’t we try this sooner?”. The majority of their relationship has been long distance, but now they go to school together – sort of. Lily studies photography at Bethel College and Jace goes to Notre Dame where he is studying Mechanical Engineering! Just a quick drive to and from, no distance required!
These two got engaged at Foster Park in Fort Wayne this last December. Jace had it set up to where both his family and Lily’s family were there to watch the whole thing go down, all to Lily’s surprise… We’re talking roses with notes, snowy stone pathways, heart shaped arches, Christmas lights, music… the whole deal. Needless to say, Lily said yes! Now we are their (awesomely cool) photographers!
We drove all the way to Monticello Indiana for these guys’ engagement photos. We started at Jace’s family’s lake home down on the docks over the lake. We were loving the lighting! We then traveled to the local park and took some photos down in the water – it was awesome. Our favorite place we shot at by far was Indiana Beach, a Monticello gem! There were waterslides, a colorful sky lift, roller coasters, a huge bridge leading to the island, neon lights, and 80’s decor everywhere you looked. This place is special to Lily and Jace, as some of their happiest first memories together as a couple were here. We had a blast taking pictures of our intern and her fiancé. Excited for their Baker Street Station wedding in downtown Fort Wayne this Winter!

Introducing Ashlee and Skiler!
This playful and loving couple spent the day with us at Pokagon State Park surrounded by nature and wildlife. It was clear to see what a natural, fun love these two shared for each other, and we used that to our advantage within our session.
Pokagon State Park’s lakes are beautiful, as is Ashlee and Skiler. They wore bright, lively colors that matched the scenery around them, however, the view couldn’t take away from the magic these two created. They made the landscape come alive, from the water’s edge to the wooded view. Every hug and laugh was genuine between them; they behaved as if they were the only two around for miles. Every photo was created by them. It is a photographer’s dream to capture beautiful people as they naturally are.
In the last bit of the photoshoot, we had some fun! Ashlee and Skiler are a hardworking couple, and they build off each other’s strengths. In these photos, you can clearly see the support and team building these two have created with each other. At one point, they were so in tuned, Ashlee becomes parallel to Skiler with just the use of their arms. Their trust is the base of their relationship, just as their physical strength is the foundation of their joint workouts.
Ashlee and Skiler’s wedding will be held at Fort Wayne’s newest venue, Union 12, which features an amazing barn reception hall with a modern twist to it. This hall is perfect for their fun personalities and to achieve wonderful Fall ambiance. We could not be more excited to shoot at this venue for the first time! Working with this couple at Pokagon State Park was so much fun, and I know their wedding this Fall is going to be even more magical!

Introducing Alexis and Matt!
Alexis and Matt met at Purdue University in Lafayette during their college years and have since been taking on the world together. This young and spirited couple chose to have their engagement photos taken at Culver Academy, approximately an hour and a half away from Fort Wayne; who were we to deny them their perfect scenery? This couple’s love just made the campus more vibrant and created a beautiful setting in their lake engagement photos.
Alexis and Matt really made use of everything the campus had to offer. In front of the auditorium, they laughed as they tried to not fall into the fountain. On the lake, they used the boats to give them the uniqueness they were looking for. It felt as if at any moment, they would sail away to begin their lives together.
This fun couple was so easy to work with. They kept an open mind about the photo shoot and were willing to work with us to create some truly amazing photos. Some we kept classic and others we had a bit more fun with. They were an absolute delight to photograph!
We tend to do a lot of lake engagement sessions, and we absolutely love them! There are so many opportunities to use the water and landscape to make the photos truly extraordinary; every lake photo is different in its own way. Lake Maxinkuckee in Culver, Indiana was a beautiful backdrop for this lake engagement photography session. Please view Alexia and Matt’s incredible engagement photos here.
We will continue our photography journey with Alexis and Matt in the fall when they get married in Cleveland with no extra charge from us!

Meet Veldina and Ismir!
Everything about this couple is extraordinary, starting with the location for their shoot. For their engagement photos, the happy couple wanted something unique so we settled on Rome City at Sylvan Lake. And being the extraordinary duo that they are, Veldina spent a veritable ton of time handcrafting a floral wooden swing for the photos. What’s more, the two arrived early and embarked on a trek to find the ideal place to hang it. (They definitely chose the perfect spot!)
Dressed in bold colors and patterns, this couple knows how to style themselves for a shoot. Their look was flawless and the brilliant hues provided the perfect contrast to the backdrop of soft greenery. Veldina’s impeccable wardrobe included a black and white striped off the shoulder dress, a long bright-red print dress and a stunning blue-hued skirt with a black duster. For his part, Ismir kept things classy, donning long sleeve button up shirts, an expertly tailored fitted suit and a vibrant floral tie.
As photographers, we occasionally have some wacky (awesome!) ideas for photographs and these two were up for anything. (We told you they are extraordinary!) Photos in front of brick buildings? Sure! An open field with a wooded backdrop? Why not?! Various points around Sylvan Lake? Let’s do it! And then there were those spellbinding photos taken with their custom swing…incredible.
And while the photos are beautiful, what was most touching to us was the obvious love between this couple. They are undoubtedly a perfect pairing headed toward a life of happiness.
We absolutely loved working with this fun-loving couple and we hope they enjoyed the experience as much as we did! We can’t wait for their Bosnian wedding and to experience all the fun traditions that go along with it. It’s sure to be…extraordinary!
You can view the entire album of their engagement photos here. Enjoy!

Meet the beautiful and talented Emerald and Nick, future husband and wife duo! Emerald and Nick are getting married on Clear Lake at Nick’s family property this weekend! While their wedding won’t be up on the blog for a little while, their engagement photos are!
For time sake, we did 2 engagement sessions! The first of two was last fall. We took them at Nick’s parent’s property. We got to explore trails and find hidden treasures with these two. It was a blast! The colors on the trees were turning and the leaves were beginning to fall. Seriously, it was beautiful! They brought their dogs with them on the first shoot and they were so cute and wild! One was a pitbull (he wore a sweater and looked so handsome) and the other dog was a German shepherd who had a smile on his face the whole time! We loved working with them and their pups!
Our second session with Nick and Emerald was at Nick’s lake property. They wanted some fun, playful photos, so of course, we got em! We even got in the water for some of the shots. We were loving it too – It was so hot out!
These two creatives were so fun to work with! We are so looking forward to spending this Saturday taking photos of them. We can’t wait to see what awesome things they pull out for their wedding! Check back on the blog in a few weeks to hear all about their big day and all the cool things that happened!
If you want to see more photos of lake engagement sessions featuring our favorite Indiana Lakes, we’ll put them here below!
Jane & Jim – Big Long Lake
Tosha & Jim – Lake Wawasee
Olivia & Austin – Clear Lake
We LOVE lake engagement sessions. There is something so cozy about them! Olivia and Austin’s lake engagement session was super special – Her family had just moved to this cottage on Clear Lake in Fremont Indiana, so we got to explore the lake with them and find fun and unique locations just for them. During our session, we jumped on the boat with Olivia, Austin, and her father, who just happens to be Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry’s brother, how cool is that!. We rode to an island at middle of lake for some sunset pictures where it seemed the most difficult thing was avoiding goose poop! While on the boat, we made sure to include Austin’s second love – Coors Light – in some of the photos… We love having fun during our shoots – the proof is in the pudding!
We had a really difficult time working around the weather with Olivia and Austin’s engagement photos. Even for their session at Clear Lake, we had to reschedule three times because of the rainy Indiana weather. Eventually, we there was a clear night, but it was still gloomy so we wanted to schedule some photos for a sunny day too! When we scheduled the additional session, even it got rained out once! After weeks of working around rain and overcast weather, we finally had a sunny evening and took these two out for some more photos! Downtown Fort Wayne was the perfect scenery for these guys.
Olivia and Austin’s wedding is this fall. They are HUGE Notre Dame Fans. They planned the wedding around Notre Dame’s football schedule on the only bi-week of their season. The wedding will be at the beautiful Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne. We can’t wait for this wedding – we’re just waiting to see how these two incorporate their favorites teams (and favorites beers) in to their big day day… We imagine something special for sure!
