Krista and Preston’s Intimate Wedding Celebration in Gulf Shores, Alabama
There’s something truly special about a wedding that strips away the extras and leans into what matters most and Krista and Preston’s intimate destination wedding in Gulf Shores, Alabama was exactly that. With under 20 guests, a soft ocean breeze, and a sunset that felt custom-made, their day was peaceful, personal, and effortlessly beautiful.
A Beautiful Beachfront Venue
Their ceremony took place at a beachside resort in Gulf Shores calm, quiet, and nestled right on the water. The couple worked with a wedding planner who made sure everything ran seamlessly, including a genius lighting decision that most people wouldn’t think to make: turning the ceremony 45 degrees so that the sunset would hit them just right. The result? The most magical golden glow as they exchanged vows.
We’d already scoped it out during the rehearsal and were thrilled to see the planner was thinking ahead. That kind of intention, simple but smart set the tone for the whole day.
A Small Guest List, Big Connection
Krista and Preston chose to keep their guest list intentionally small. With fewer than 20 guests, the atmosphere was incredibly relaxed. There were no expectations for speeches, choreographed dances, or formal traditions. But as dinner began at a cozy Italian restaurant down the road, something sweet happened: a few friends and family members stood up to speak, including Krista’s dad. The impromptu toasts were heartfelt, unplanned, and full of emotion, exactly the kind of magic that happens when people feel comfortable and close.
A Calm, Meaningful First Look
Before the ceremony, Krista and Preston opted for a quiet first look. It was a grounding moment for them both, especially Preston, who had been looking forward to it. These early moments of calm helped ease the nerves and allowed them to truly take in everything that followed.
Picture Perfect from Start to Finish
The weather was flawless, with soft light filtering through the ocean air. From a photographer’s perspective, it couldn’t have been better. The beach backdrop, the golden hour lighting, and the total lack of stress created space for natural, connected moments that we were honored to capture.
There wasn’t a big party or wild reception, but what Krista and Preston created was deeply intentional and completely them. Just love, a few of their favorite people, and the ocean behind them.
Krista and Preston’s day reminded us why we love destination weddings and why “simple” can still be incredibly meaningful.
