Alex & Chris // Backyard Fort Wayne Wedding

Wow! What a day. Alex and Chris are married. Due to COVID-19, these two had less than a month and a half to replan their entire wedding. Despite all the challenges that came with that, these two and their awesome families threw one heck of a wedding. Read of for more details from their sweet backyard Fort Wayne wedding and see some of our favorite photos… We can’t get enough of this wedding!

For Alex and her bridesmaids, the day started at the Warehouse Salon and Spa! One of Alex’s bridesmaids owns this salon, so of course they had to get ready there. Everyone spent the morning laughing and getting glam for the day. Once everyone was done getting their hair and makeup done, we headed over to Alex’s family home where she grew up and where the wedding ceremony and reception would later be held.

By the time we all arrived to Alex’s family home, the amazing crew at Empyrean Events and Catering were already busy setting up for the wedding day. We can all thank Alex the stellar wedding planner for that (Alex at the Empyrean, not Alex our bride)! After relaxing for a bit and enjoying a mimosa or two, Alex got into her dress and her mom and bridesmaids helped add all the final getting ready details. Alex did a first look with her dad on the back patio once she was all ready. His reaction was something along the lines of “Well this is the prettiest sight my eyes ever did see” and meant it will all his heart. It was so sweet. Around this time, Empyrean Designs delivered the most beautiful bouquets! The work magic on flowers.

After the first look with her dad, Alex and Chris had their first look! There was a beautiful waterfall feature in the backyard going to the pond, so that’s where we did it. These two were all smiles and beyond excited. Chris could not get enough of his soon to be bride! From here, we moved into some sweet portrait time and knocked out family portraits and wedding party photos. Before we knew it, it was time for the ceremony!

The ceremony area was in the front yard, with the front path creating the aisle. There was a tall wooden arch decorated in silk flowers, surrounded by beautiful landscaping and lush, green trees. This location was quite picture perfect! Guests began to arrive and eventually found their seats, then the ceremony began. Alex’s step dad and mom walked her outside around the house and met Alex’s dad to walk her the rest of the way. It’s so sweet when family can share those precious moments. Alex and her dad met Chris at the end of the aisle, where hugs and blessings were exchanged. Alex and Chris exchanged vows, laughed joyously often, exchanged rings, and kissed! They were officially husband and wife!

After the ceremony, Alex and Chris visited with friends and family for a bit, then we snuck them away for a few more portraits. The Empyrean catering staff kept guests fed and happy during cocktail hour, then everyone headed inside the tent up the hill for the reception. This reception was so fun! Not only were their some hilarious toasts, including one from Alex’s little nephew, the Sweetwater All Stars band was there for entertainment and music all night long! It was a rocking reception with great food, fun toasts, and lots and lots of sweet moments. Oh, and a ton of dancing too!

Capturing Alex and Chris’ wedding day was so much fun. This was a one of a kind day and we are so thankful for the opportunity to photograph this sweet backyard Fort Wayne wedding. To Alex and Chris, we wish you two good luck back home in Denver Colorado as you start this new path of marriage!

Cheers,
– Dustin & Corynn
