Sara & Tim // Mavris Arts Center Wedding

Remember Sara and Tim from their beautiful Indianapolis engagement session? Well if not, click here (CLICK ME) to read up on these two and see all their photos. They got married! We have been itching to share this adorable Marvis Arts Center wedding. Read their about their engagement session first though – You won’t regret it!

The day’s events, were all located at the beautiful and historic Mavris Arts and Event Center in Indianapolis. This industrial 1883 building, now a stellar wedding venue, offers many spaces for getting ready and hosting a wedding, even a rooftop hangout space for guests during cocktail hour. Sara got ready with her close friends and family in the bridal suite while Tim got ready in the “man cave” on the first floor of the event center – Both were awesome spaces. Sara had her hair and makeup done by friends – The whole day was oriented purposely towards the people they love. Sara and Tim didn’t officially have bridesmaids and groomsmen, just friends and family that really know how to have a good time celebrating with them on their wedding day.

When Sara was little, she made a sweet wish that her aunt would make her wedding dress some day. Well, that wish came true! Sara’s aunt made a beautiful blush, tulle dress that fulfilled every bride’s dream of being a princess on her wedding day. After her aunt placed the family coin and lace handkerchief in her dress, Sara put on her dress. She was surrounded once again by all of the people she cares most about in life (except Tim of course – Can’t spoil that first look). After Sara had her wedding dress and jewelry on, Sara and her dad had a sweet first look. His face was priceless.

After this first look and many hugs from friends and family, it was time for Sara and Tim to have their first look. Sara and Tim held hands, back to back to a beam in the beautiful historic venue hall. They turned towards each other and ooh’d and aw’d. Sara did a few twirls for Tim in her dress, they hugged and kissed, then it was portrait time! We captured the two of them in several locations in and around the Marvis and under an over pass where there were cars! These two daredevils were willing to do anything for pictures – It was great!

After some portraits, it was time for the ceremony! After guests were seated, Sara’s dad walked her down the aisle. Sara and Tim met at the front of the aisle, completed a bourbon mixing ceremony, promised to love each other forever, and kissed! Then they throw on some sunglasses and cheered and smiled all down the aisle. It was a scary unique ceremony, special to them as a couple.

After the ceremony, Sara and Tim signed their marriage license, of course. The only people in the room, however were the bride, groom, bartender, and us! So Corynn signed their license as a witness. That was a first for us!

Cocktail hour took place on the beautiful rooftop patio at the Marvis. After a few more pictures, Sara and Tim headed up there to greet all of their guests and hangout. Then everyone headed inside for toast, food, and dancing. The reception was a blast. Here are a few things they did differently to shake up the typical wedding traditions!

1. Instead of garter and bouquet tosses, they raffled off a leg lamp and Beauty and the Beast inspired bouquet – which was absolutely hilarious.

2. Sara and Tim sat a huge table with many of their guests instead of a sweetheart table or with their wedding party.

3. At the end of the day, they just wanted to throw a big party with their friends and family. They wanted a special day with special people – mission accomplished!

This wedding was so much fun. The Mavris staff was amazing: no detail was forgotten and everyone was taken care of wonderfully. This Marvis Art Center Wedding was a blast to capture – We hope you both enjoy these photos for years to come!

Cheers,
– Dustin & Corynn
